This event is about working women sharing their stories about work in 21st century capitalism. Co-organized by Sister Writes, the participatory creative writing program for women in Toronto, the evening will feature women sharing stories about their lived experiences of work in retail, fast-food, the sexual services sector, care, and white collar office spaces, and many more. Lauren Kirshner opens the evening with a short talk about the politics of women’s life writing and the history of women’s writings about labour. Writers from the Sister Writes collective will then read their own stories about work. A Q & A with the writers will follow.
