The campaign for women's suffrage began long before 1900! Chris Nickson reveals the progress women made towards the vote in Victorian England.

From the mass petition in the 1860s to the Suffrage Society in the 1890s, women worked towards the great change of 1918, and won the right to vote in some elections before 1900.

This talk complements the forthcoming exhibition The Vote Before The Vote at Leeds Central Library in May 2018.

This talk is part of a programme of afternoon women's history talks linked to Abbey House Museum's 2018 exhibition A Woman's Place.
