The progression of Alzheimer's disease is explored in this powerful drama by Abilene's own David Remschel. Auditions will be Sunday April 8 at 2pm and Monday and Tuesday April 9 and 10 at 7pm.
NO ROOM is the story of Peter Bunther, a successful photographer, who notices that a picture is missing from a wall in his home, but he can’t remember what the picture is. This is the first sign of Alzheimer's, and the progression of the disease is shown as his home and its furnishing disappear. Playwright Remschel won his second Texas Educational Theatre Association Play Fest Original Play award in 2014 for NO ROOM, and was published by Dramatic Publishing Company in 2017.

PETER BUNTHER – male, 40s+ - photographer in his 60s
ROSEMARY BUNTHER - female, 40s+ - his wife, in her late 50s, early 60s
DR. WILLIAM FITZGIVINGS - male, 40s+ - their friend, a geropsychologist in his late 50s
MOVER MAC - male or female, flexible age - member of the Memory Removal Company
MOVER BENNY - male or female, flexible age - member of the Memory Removal Company
HANK – male, flexible age - the neighbor’s voice
SIMON BUNTHER - male, 20s to 30s - Peter and Rosemary’s son
AMY BUNTHER - female, 20s to 30s - Simon's wife
Auditions are for all parts, and no previous acting experience is necessary. Those auditioning should bring a prepared one-minute dramatic monologue (rehearsed, does not need to be memorized) to present, and be prepared for cold readings from the stage. Rehearsal schedule will be determined after auditions, and first read thru of the script by the cast will be held on Monday, April 16th. NO ROOM FOR A PICTURE ON THE BLANK WALL will be performed at Abilene Community Theatre (809 Barrow) on May 31st - June 2nd and June 8th - June 10th, 2018, and will be produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing Company.
