Parenting a troubled adult can be a dark and stressful experience. Most of us spend our energy (often more than we have) trying to fix the issue. Others have engaged in Tough Love, turning their back on their loved one, in hopes of maintaining their sanity. Loving Detachment is an option that allows both our loved one and ourselves to grow in our separate adult lives without being consumed by the needs of the other.
