It will have been almost one year (since April 8th 2017) we last studied together as an informal group 'Goju Ryu Tomodachi Kenkyukai Northern California. The Tomodachi Keiko (friendship training) continues with the originating format and purpose of:
- To train together.
- Technical review; opening with Sanchin and close with Tensho together however performed as practiced in your Dojo.
- Presentation review; each group or Kai-ha leading for approximately 20 minute periods presenting specifics or exercises from their Goju Ryu Karatedo lineage or club.

Our focus of study is for comparison between different branches of Goju Ryu, either affiliated or non-affiliated Clubs and independent schools. To explore commonalities not differences. Participants who do not necessarily train Goju Ryu Karatedo are encouraged to attend to further broaden their knowledge base. During our previous events we've reviewed and shared Kata, applications (Bunkai and Oyo) and Kihon. Future events may include chosen Kumite exercises.

As in the past so is the future: Please only wear white dogi and your standard belt, refraining from Renshi, Kyoshi, camouflage and other alternate Obi, thank you for your understanding. There is no 'head Sensei' or 'Chief of all Indians' while attending this training.

Tomodachi Kenkyukai is not an "association" and is not affiliated nor sponsored by any association / Kai-ha. Very specifically, these are non political events. While attending, please refrain from such topics. Tomodachi simply refers to friendship and many of our mutual friends receiving this invitation have never met or even know of each other.

Our theme is, there is no wrong way, only the way it's done in your dojo. We truly believe these gatherings are a worthwhile cause for learning, mutual respect and a comradery. Our resurrected sessions will have a new attendees as well as many of the original bunch.

Please share the event link and invite others who practice, have an interest Goju Ryu Karate Do or have been left off the list (simply forward this message).

After training, We will run off to wherever is convenient in downtown Menlo Park (just two (2) blocks away) for an inexpensive post workout eat and greet where we'll also discuss future proposed training session dates or alternate locations.

If you can't personally attend, send a replacement from your club. The worse they can do is fall down during Seiunchin. Drop us a return note event if you can make it! We look forward to seeing you all and providing introductions. And remember to bring your business cards!
