What are the actual differences between streams of Judaism? How did they start, in what ways have they mutated, and what makes their current incarnations so profoundly American? The answers may surprise you, says instructor Melanie Weiss. Weiss, who earned her master's degree in Modern Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, is Director of Education at Beth Israel Congregation in Waterville and Director of Summer Programs at the Center for Small Town Jewish Life at Colby College.
The class is free and open to the public. The final class in this series will be on Monday, May 7, with Rabbi Rachel Isaacs.
