GI JEWS tells the unique story of the 550,000 American Jews who served in World War II.. These brave men and women fought for their nation and for Jews worldwide against Hitler, fascism, and genocide, often confronting anti-Semitism within their own ranks and at home.
With archival footage, photos, and interviews, GI JEWS brings to life the stories of soldiers, airmen, WACs and nurses, from Henry Kissinger of army intelligence to infantryman Harold Baumgarten of the Bronx, who drew a big Jewish star on his jacket to let the Nazis know who was coming for them, later inspiring the character of PFC Mellish in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
