In this hands-on workshop, you will learn basic mushroom cultivation, and inoculate a shiitake mushroom log.

* PART ONE of the workshop will be an exploration of the physiology and cultivation of mushrooms, and

* PART TWO will be a hands-on inoculation of fresh oak logs with shiitake spawn (mycelia). Over time, the mycelia colonize and 'digest' the log, converting its nutrients into tasty mushroom 'flushes' or blooms. These periodic flushings repeat for several years.

The 10 logs that we inoculate during PART TWO of the workshop will be available for sale at the end of the class for between $15 - 35, depending on size. If you register for the class, and if you'd like to reserve a log now (first come, first served), send an email to MetroMushrooms@AgHall.com, and leave your name & contact information (phone is adequate).

The workshop will be held at Agricultural Hall, 245 Amory Street, Jamaica Plain, from 9:30 - 11:30am.

This is a ticketed event with a small number of tickets left.
