In yoga, the number 108 refers to spiritual completion. It is why japa malas are composed of 108 beads, why pranayama is often completed in cycles of 108 and why we often practice 108 sun salutations. This number serves as a reminder of the beauty and interconnectedness of the universe. By practicing chanting, pranayama or asana in rounds of 108, ancient yogis believed we could align ourselves with the rhythm of creation and bring an end to our circling of reincarnation.

In this workshop, dedicated to the upcoming Chicago 108 Wanderlust event, we will practice a total of 108 Sun Salutations in 8 groups of 12.

Students are asked to move at their own pace and take breaks as needed. Before beginning each set, Ann will gift students with a drop of a sacred oil aligning with a mantra for each set of sun salutations. We will end our practice with a guided meditation and seal in our intentions with a prayer of harmony. Students will leave this practice feeling lighter and more aligned with their lives' purpose.

All levels are welcomed. Ann will be there to keep your bodies safe, to support and hold space for you to feel safe to release anything that serves no purpose. Participants will receive a special surprise to take with them for their home practice.

About Ann Rinderer:
Ann was introduced to the physical practice, or asana, in her early teens. But it wasn’t until her early twenties she found something special through her practice. She first got back into yoga to escape, but she actually found herself.
Ann views the practice of yoga, as a way of life. She believes in living and breathing yoga on and off of the mat. She enjoys sharing her own life lessons and stories in her classes and creates an open and welcoming environment for students to feel safe and supported. With much focus on guiding the breath, allowing students to feel, notice and observe with love rather than fear and attachment.

Ann’s lineage is very much like the world we live in now; blended. Her teachers all come from different lineages. She is a good teacher of balance and her intentions with teaching are to help students find connection with their authentic self and true purpose.
