We are pleased to announce that Aiken Center for the Arts will be offering Art and Music Camp for Special Needs Children again this summer. Carter Boucher will serve as our instructor for the second year of this program. Designed specifically to enable children living with traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, and other physical and developmental disabilities to express themselves creatively, this program is the highlight of our summer outreach.
The camp offers adaptable art and music programs designed to enable campers to express their creativity. Whether they are working with paper mache, trying out screen printing, or experimenting with tonal and atonal musical instruments, their days will be filled with fun.
Carter is a visual artist, writer, and musician. He is an Arts Access SC master artist and has been an active artist in residence through the South Carolina Arts Commission since 1981. His residencies have included gifted and talented students as well as special needs. He studied art at the University of South Carolina, Columbia where he majored in printmaking. He also studied set design in Strasbourg, France with Louis Fantasia at Schiller College. Carter’s artwork has been featured nationally.
This camp is offered free of charge to eligible campers. Please complete the online application as enrollment is limited. Visit our website for a link to the application: http://aikencenterforthearts.org/summercamp/
