Tasveer invites you to view The Historian’s Eye, a new exhibition that presents a unique collection of photographs by William Dalrymple at Akara Art from 13th April to 3rd May.

Opening reception: 12th April, 7pm onwards (Art Night Thursday)

William Dalrymple is well-known and celebrated for his travel and history writing. Combining his interest in photography and his fascination with history, this exhibition presents a collection of images taken by him during the course of his travels across India over the last two years, while researching his upcoming book. The Historian’s Eye maps the places where history and art were being made in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries: from the Red Fort and Jama Masjid of Delhi to the Company’s headquarters in Calcutta, from the capital of the Nawabs of Bengal in Murshidabad to as far South as Tipu Sultan’s base of Srirangapatna, and also includes a small selection of photographs from modern-day Pakistan.

The exhibition will remain on view at Akara Art until 3rd May. Limited edition prints are available for sale through the gallery.
