Over the past 10 years, the Alameda County jail population has decreased by 44%, yet the Sheriff’s budget has doubled to a total of $404 million this year. In 2014, as a result of the passage of Proposition 47, 13% fewer beds are occupied in Alameda County jails.
Join us for a mobilization to the County Board Of Supervisors Public Protections Committee where presentations regarding money saved from Proposition 47 will be presented from the Sheriff's Department, District Attorney's Office, Probation Department, and Public Defender's Office.
We will be mobilizing to demand reinvestment back to our communities and connecting this effort to our larger demand for an audit of the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. For more information, visit www.bit.ly/auditahern
