Canada's Stratford Festival presents William Shakespeare's enduring favorite ROMEO AND JULIET. The Stratford Festival’s Romeo and Juliet Scott Wentworth brings fresh life to the beloved tale of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers in the Stratford Festival’s “funny, moving, thrilling” production (National Post) of Romeo and Juliet, starring Antoine Yaredand Sara Farbas the “youthful, impulsive, and vivacious” title characters (Toronto Star). Featuring “a perfect portrait of the Nurse from Seana McKenna” (The Globe and Mail), an “electric Mercutio” in Evan Buliung(National Post), and a “solid ensemble” (Toronto Star), this production is “captivating from start to finish” (Broadway World).
About the Production
ROMEO AND JULIET was captured live on stage with a full audience at the Stratford Festival’s Festival Theatre on October 17, 2017, using seven cameras and 128 tracks of sound to create a sensational high-definition, surround-sound production. Additional “pick-up” shots of key performance elements were captured on stage immediately following the performance. The film version is faithful to the stage version of the production, but adds the intimacy of film with its array of camera angles to bring the audience even closer than the intimate Festival Theatre allows.
