Jorge Blanco is celebrated across the globe for his geometric, often representational, and always playful, sculptures. Fabricated from thick flat slabs of painted aluminum, the artist portrays figures and everyday objects with a just few simple forms. Brightly colored; yet, with an industrial feel, the works can be found in collections throughout more than forty countries in scales ranging in from tabletop to monumental.
This is Blanco’s first solo exhibition in Sarasota, where the Venezuela-born artist has lived and worked for two decades. It is also the first to include both large and moderately scaled works by Blanco in the same setting.
