Come enjoy an evening of pizza with the Paddlers! We will be having a club Open House on April 26 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the W.C. Eaket library in Blind River. The evening will feature a talk from guest speaker Chuck Miller (info below), an opportunity to learn about club activities, trips, and membership benefits, and the chance to meet and chat with fellow paddling/outdoor enthusiasts. We will be having a free draw for a club membership and, new this year, we will have a free draw for KICK (Kids Into Canoeing and Kayaking) camp registration. That’s worth $175.00! If you’ve already paid for membership or KICK and win the draw, we will issue a refund cheque.
This is also a great time to sign up for your annual membership or register your child for KICK Camp.

Guest Speaker: Chuck Miller - Autumn Canoeing Hansen Township In Killarney Provincial Park
This presentation is about Chuck Miller and Karen Mikoliew revisiting Hansen Township, in Killarney Provincial Park by canoe and foot on the occasion of the naming of Hansen Township and the final construction of “La Cloche Silhouette Trail” in 1986. Hansen Township rests in a remote and scenic area of the North, Central section of the park. This area includes the last section of 80km “La Cloche Silhouette Trail” to be completed in 1986 linking Silver Peak with Baie Fine. 1986 was also the year that Stalin Township was renamed in the honour of athlete Rick Hansen. Chuck Miller led the work on the trail in the 1980’s. Chuck Miller worked for Ontario’s Provincial Parks for 40 years, including Killarney and Quetico. He worked most recently as the Killarney’s park superintendent for 15 years until his retirement in 2013. He now lives in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
