This event is Day 1 of 2: The 1st Annual "Let's Make LauLau Luau 2018."
We will gather at "Aloha Gardens" at 12 noon, and learn the significance of the Taro Plant - an important foundation of the Hawaiian people & culture.
This activity will be educational. We will learn the story of the taro plant and it's impact on the Hawaiian People and culture, as well as, making LauLau - hands-on - using the taro plant.
We will harvest the taro leaves and stems, clean, and create an assembly line to put together the LauLau, which will be served on the next day, Saturday, 1 Sep at the Luau (Day 2 of 2).
We will need about 20 people (youth and adults) to help prepare the LauLau and get it ready for the Saturday (1 Sep 2018) Luau event. At this time, [we estimate] we will need to make approximately 120 servings for the Saturday Luau.
If you would like to participate, please contact Manny Manuel by text or phone to let him know you would like to help in making the LauLau.
