Don't miss out on this very special performance by Argentinian guitarist, Mariano Gil. Born in Italy, Mariano began his musical studies in Pinamar, his birth town. He later emigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to continue his musical training. In 1997, he enrolled in the Conservatorio Superior de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires “Astor Piazzolla” where he completed his studies. There, he studied under Vicente Elías and Javier Bravo. He trained in the Tango genre under Aníbal Arias and Pino Enriquez and studied to be a Musical Arranger at the Academia Nacional del Tango de Buenos Aires.

In his solo set, he performs with a classical Spanish guitar with nylon strings and plays a repertoire of World Music as well as his own songs which defy any labels. He experiments with different sounds and cleverly exploits the different resources available such as the bass pedal, open strings and the rolling out of melodies within an arpeggio.

His repertoire includes his own compositions as well as songs from artists such as Egberto Gismonti, Roland Dyens and Carlo Domeniconi.
