Inclusion Rider

Get Directions

#var:page_name# cover

Join the conversation about diversity, identity, and inclusion in art organizations in the DMV area. Hosted by AU's Art Department and co-hosted by The Studio Visit and ‘sindikit, this open discussion aims to identify and examine the structures and many economies that impact artists' lives.

Whether an artist has a commercial career or one in academia there are systematic similarities. Who holds the positions that affect artists trajectories? How does these "gatekeeper's" identities reflect historical norms and affect artists access to opportunities, and what cultural values are reflected in these people's identities?

The resonance of the inclusion rider at this years Academy Awards begs the question what can the art world do to implement systemic changes that reflect the breathe of communities in our shared field? The event is free and open to the public.
