On April 28th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm the Sheriff’s Office is asking members of the community to come together to show we care about this county. We are seeking individual / family volunteers, church groups, businesses, etc. to join us at one of our designated meeting areas:
- Riveredge Park (Madison Heights)
- Coolwell Recreation Center (Amherst)
- Amherst County Courthouse (Amherst)
- Temperance Elementary School (Lowesville)
From there we will shuttle to areas along Rt 29, Rt 29 B, Rt 163, Lowesville Rd, and others to clean up Amherst County. Each volunteer will receive a special volunteer shirt to wear for the event.
We are also encouraging businesses or church groups to clean around their locations if they do not wish to meet at one of the predetermined sites. Individuals are encouraged to simply walk to the edge of their roads and pick up litter, as well, if they can’t attend.
However you wish to participate we please ask that you RSVP to Deputy Kelly Meeks at 434-941-6852 or firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, April 13th to guarantee a t-shirt in your size. You may respond after that date to indicate your participation so we can ensure enough shuttle transportation to work sites.
