We are delighted to welcome a trio of poets, Amanda Lovelace, Cyrus Parker, and Courtney Peppernell, to An Unlikely Story to discuss all things poetry and celebrate National Poetry Month. Join us for the discussion followed by a signing.
Amanda Lovelace: Growing up a word-devourer & avid fairy tale lover, it was only natural that Amanda Lovelace began writing books of her own, and so she did. When she isn't reading or writing, she can be found waiting for pumpkin spice coffee to come back into season & binge-watching Gilmore Girls. (Before you ask: team Jess all the way.) The lifelong poetess & storyteller currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, their bunnycat, and a combined book collection so large it will soon need its own home. She has her B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Sociology. Her first collection, the princess saves herself in this one, won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Poetry of 2016. Her new collection, the witch doesn’t burn in this one, released in March.
Cyrus Parker: Cyrus Parker is a pro-wrestler-turned-poet, hailing from a small town in New Jersey, where he lives with his poetess wife, Amanda Lovelace. Originally from Michigan, where he spent half a decade working on the local independent wrestling scene, Cyrus is now trading his literal dropkicks for literary dropkicks as he puts wrestling on the back burner to pursue his other passion, writing. a creative writing major at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ, the self-proclaimed DROPKICK poet has set out on a journey to find his voice, and himself, through the written word. When he's not illegibly scrawling away in his journal or typing away on his next project, Cyrus can be found napping excessively after consuming massive amounts of coffee or wandering the world, trying to be the very best Pokémon master that ever lived.
Courtney Peppernell is an LGBT author from Sydney, Australia. In October 2016 she released the best-selling poetry collection Pillow Thoughts. Courtney has been writing her whole life and currently writes young adult novels and poetry collections. In February 2017 she released her second novel, Keeping Long Island. In August 2017 she published Pillow Thoughts and The Road Between via US publisher Andrews McMeel Publishing. Pillow Thoughts II: Healing The Heart, has been announced for release in 2018. When Courtney isn't writing she enjoys keeping fit, listening to music, and hanging out with her two dogs, Hero & Dakota.
