Caring for Babies - course for domestic helpers

During this comprehensive course, we equip your domestic helper with the necessary skills to care for your baby with a healthy amount of confidence and solid communication skills.

We cover all aspects of baby care including: infant CPR, First Aid, and safety hygiene, minor ailments, bathing, feeding, setting flexible sleep and meal routines, self-settling techniques for baby, breastfeeding support, use of infant formula and introducing solid foods, developmental milestones and appropriate play. We can provide feedback to you on request at the end of the course, should you require it.

The sessions are based on strategies and guidelines endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the national Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). They will be interactive, and teachers employ a variety of teaching and learning methods.

Some of the topics include:

CPR and First Aid
Safety for babies including SIDS
Common illnesses and when to call a doctor
Breast and bottle feeding including making up feeds and storage
Weaning and healthy eating including preparation, storage, and dental care
Meal and sleep routines
Bathing and hygiene
Developmental milestones and how to stimulate development
Age appropriate play
