Reel Palestine Pop-Up Film Festival

Copresented by Reel Palestine and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York

Anteo Palazzo del Cinema
Piazza Venticinque Aprile, 8, 20121 Milano
Saturday–Sunday, April 14–15, 10:30 am

Reel Palestine presents films by emerging and established international artists and filmmakers from Palestine and its diaspora. This selection of feature films and shorts explores notions of place, space, and origin through poetic, metaphorical, and experimental visual gestures. Produced in the last five years, these films offer alternative vistas to those portrayed in the media, and relay overlooked stories about migration, displacement, fragmentation, and family traditions.

This film festival is organized in conjunction with the exhibition But a Storm Is Blowing from Paradise: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa on view at Galleria d’Arte Moderna through June 17.

Sunday, April 15

Suspended Time: A Program of Short Films, 2013, 58 min., 33 sec. (Arabic with English subtitles)
Composed of nine short films by nine filmmakers and artists, Suspended Time reflects on the twenty-year period following the signing of the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and Palestine. The diverse array of films creates a fragmented jigsaw puzzle of geography, disparity, migration, and physical and emotional experiences. The films were selected from an open call process in 2013 and produced by Idiom Films.
