Join the Antioch Bird Club for a spring bird walk at the Dillant-Hopkins airport in Swanzey, NH, just south of Keene. This location provides wonderful opportunities to view early spring migrants that utilize deciduous and mixed forests, wet meadows, and grasslands. Possible birds include all the resident forest species, Eastern Phoebe, Killdeer, swallows, American Bittern, waterfowl, raptors, and early spring warblers (Yellow-rumped, Palm, and Pine).
Birding at the airport will be along a flat road with easy walking. Total distance will be no more than 2 miles or so on foot. After the airport, it is likely that we will stop at nearby Wilson Pond in search of additional waterfowl. This will be club member, Rachel Yurchisin's first trip that she is leading for ABC, so please come on out and see what she has to offer! A post-walk trip to Mi Jalisco is also scheduled.
