Appalshop's Annual Festival of Mountain Arts!
Seedtime's 32nd Annual year, we're celebrating youth in the mountains with a focus on Appalachian Media Institute (AMI) and The STAY Project (STAY). Seedtime has always been a time of year to portray the depth and richness of our culture and celebrate the process of passing it on to new generations. In 2018, AMI celebrates 30 years of youth media making and STAY celebrates 10 years of bringing mountain youth together to create, advocate for, and participate in safe, sustainable, engaging and inclusive communities.
This year we also kick off Seedtime weekend with Levitt AMP Whitesburg Music Series on Thursday, May 31. We'll partner with the City of Whitesburg / Letcher County Farmers' Market to bring back the Seedtime Parade on Saturday morning down Tanglewood Trail!
Amythyst Kiah of Johnson City, TN will headline Friday with her Southern gothic blues, and Kentucky singer, songwriter, and guitarist Joan Shelley closes out Seedtime on Saturday night. They are both on tour with new music and excited to visit Whitesburg again. The rest of the weekend will be filled with regional art, film, crafts and young musicians, many of which were part of AMI and STAY programming over the years.
