While her husband concentrated on his art collection, Laura Barnes dedicated herself to the 12-acre arboretum. The space houses numerous impressive specimens including peony and lilac collections from the early 1900’s that are important genetic resources for conservation and study.
Birding expert and Conservancy volunteer, Gregg Gorton, will lead a spring migration walk among the “living collection” of over 2,500 plant species at the Barnes Arboretum. After, Bill Rein, of the Barnes Arboretum, will lead a tour of the grounds.
The event is free but pre-registration is required. Coffee and pastries included.
