Archway Gallery is please to announce the opening reception for photographer Larry Garmezy's solo exhibition, Flyover Country: The Past Preserved in the Northern Rockies.
The remnants of a pioneer past are preserved in the hidden valleys of the Northern Rockies. There’s a profound beauty in the almost empty, wide-open expanses portrayed through the images of this show, and the large format of many of the works places the viewer squarely into the landscape. For Garmezy, the photographs convey “a healthy dose of respect for the settlers who survived harsh winters and the hardships of life on a remote frontier.” In this exhibition, he traces some of the history behind the images and chronicles small communities that have been left behind by our increasingly urban world.
The artist will be present to visit with guests during the exhibition's opening reception on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a talk by the artist at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition will be on view through Thursday, May 3, 2018.
Complimentary valet parking and light refreshments.
