'Hinterlands'
A solo exhibition by Phill Foley
Sunburst Gallery
Exhibition continues until Sat 28 April

The areas of extensive countryside around the west of Ireland are often referred to as hinterlands. The term comes from German and loosely translates to "the land behind". The use of the term tells of our perception of the natural landscape as remote, yet still connected to us.

This exhibition of drawings by Galway based artist Phill Foley investigates this connection of the land to our sense of identity. It documents the often dramatic landscapes of the west coast and questions the changing perceptions of them as our relation to the land changes.

'An Exploration of the Relationship Between Music and Art'
A solo exhibition by Steve McDowell
Georgian Gallery
Exhibition continues until Sun 15 April

This exhibition accompanies the Ards International Guitar Festival programme.

Inspired by music all his life and a previous incarnation from running his own music shop for years, Steve produces hand painted Acrylic images of some of his favourite musical artists through the years.

A fan of stark graphic simplicity, clean lines, the work of Andy Warhol and the POP ART movement Steve tries to recreate the inspiration on canvas of the spirit each of these artists have given him through music.
