In this exhibit, Undoboy brings his latest project, 100 Happiness, from Instagram to the walls of the ARGONAUT Gallery. 100 Happiness explores the search for happiness and today's desire for instant gratification of emotions through social media.
The artist wants to use his works as a medium to arouse emotions in audiences, to connect with people, to bring happiness to them, and to raise the question about true happiness in this information polluted era.
He believes happiness coexists with unhappiness, interrelated and interdependent like Yin and Yang. Therefore, this show consisted a series of unhappy faces juxtaposing with happy faces.
“I like to include the unhappy face in my work not only to create the tension and contrast but also to remind other that life could suck sometimes. It would be delusional if it is just showcasing the happy face itself. Life has its ups and downs, we tend to overlook the true happiness if we do not embrace the opposite side of it. You need to go through the unhappy moment in your life to really get underneath the meaning of happiness.” -- Undoboy
Join us for an opening reception on April 5th to view the 100 Happiness project, as well as a collection of some of Undoboy's former works.
