In cooperation with Lafayette County's recognition of Money Smart Month, the Argyle Public Library presents a discussion on the American economy by economist and Monroe Times columnist, John Waelti. Waelti will discussing the state of the U.S. macro economy as it relates to fiscal policy and the recent tax bill. He returns as a popular Argyle Public Library speaker.
John Waelti’s brings his extensive economic knowledge to discuss the present economic state from the Great Recession to now. He will cover key indicators, recovery, existing economic recovery, thoughts about future trends and more.
Waelti was born and raised on a dairy farm in Monroe, was on the Agricultural Economics Faculty of University of Minnesota (1967-1990), taking leave to serve as Economic Advisor to Assistant Secretary of the Army in Washington DC. He also served as a visiting professor to University of Nairobi, Kenya, and as head of the Department of Agricultural Economics in New Mexico State University and Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
