The Good, the Bad & the Devine: Dave Devine & Friends (featuring members of DeVotchKa) Play Ennio Morricone's Spaghetti Western Film Scores
Denver guitarist Dave Devine brings Ennio Morricone’s scores to
“A Fistful of Dollars / For a Few Dollars More / The Good, the Bad & the Ugly / Once Upon a Time in the West” to The Armory in Fort Collins. Coinciding with the conclusion of the National Western Stock Show, these performances of the Golden Globe-winning composer’s unforgettable “spaghetti western” music have become an annual tradition in Denver since 2014.
Bringing Morricone’s complex scores to life with a small chamber ensemble is a challenge Devine embraces, having transcribed and arranged many of the pieces himself. In addition to Dave on guitars the ensemble is rounded out by Tania Katz (vocals / whistling / percussion),
Patrick Lee (piano / keys), Shane Endsley (trumpet / whistling / percussion), Tom Hagerman (violin / accordian), Jeanie Schroder (bass / tuba) & Shawn King (drums / percussion). Perceptive music fans may recognize these musicians from their work with acclaimed bands such as The Czars, Kneebody & DeVotchKa among others.
