Join the San Marcos Art League for a day of culture and fun at the Art Squared Arts Market! Art Squared Arts Market happens every second Saturday of the month, from March through December. This open air art market is open from 9am-4pm and features all handmade, original artwork shown by the artists themselves. In addition to all the great art there is live music, free yoga or tai-chi, free kid's arts and crafts, featured non-profit organizations, and a farmer's market adjacent to the art market.
April's Featured Artist: Sharri Eastridge

Sharri Eastridge has lived in San Marcos for 15 years, and creates various works of crochet of which she sells in her very own shop, Sassy Crochet. Much of Sharri's inspiration has come from her grandchildren and the many crochet groups she is a part of. She began her crochet hobby during her daughter's pregnancy when preparing for the arrival of her new grandchild. "I love this town and I’m pleased that the arts are so well-supported" notes Sharri. "Whether we realize it or not, I feel there is art in all of us. Think back to when you were a child or when your child was young - the finger paintings and pictures displayed on their refrigerator or stored in a box for keepsake. This is our first attempts at self-expression or what we perceive things to be. It’s our most real and honest art. Somehow people tend to forget these creations. That is why I feel fortunate to live in a place that supports and encourages art. Art can bring people together no matter their background."

April's Featured Non-Profit Organization: Hay's Caldwell Women's Center
The featured organization this month is the Hays Caldwell Women's Center (HCWC). Founded in 1978, the Center provides essential services to women, men and children by providing education, violence prevention services and crisis intervention to victims of family violence, dating violence, sexualassault and child abuse. Their mission is to create an environment where violence and abuse are not tolerated in the communities they serve.
