BIO: Michelle Chrisman: I love the visual beauty of New Mexico, Arizona & the West, the deserts & variety of cultures. I consider myself a Contemporary Colorist & Modernist, but most of all, a visual poet. My landscapes are painted outdoors, “en plein air.” I paint the effect of outdoor color & light according to the principals of Impressionism, adding Expressionism, as I respond emotionally to painting the beauty of the visual world. I have been described as a painter of “controlled chaos”! After years of training, I love getting to this “zone” in painting of a free-fall in transmitting feelings, while describing the abstract forms that the natural world provides. I am often told that my paintings make people feel happy…this is the ultimate compliment for me!
