Learn how to carve a wooden spoon using only hand tools from a piece of freshly cut wood! A journey from log-to-spoon, where you'll learn sketching, design, axing, carving, and finishing techniques. Tools include axes and spoon knives, which will be provided for the class, as will wood.
At the end of the workshop a big pot of chili will be served so we can celebrate Cinco de Mayo together. If you like you can try out your new utensil while you are at it! Growlers from Fogtown Brewery will be available during our supper for an extra charge .
Instructors: Deirdre McGrath and Aaron Margolis own Rusted Pulchritude and work from their Ellsworth studio housed in an 1800’s horse barn. A recent article in the Ellsworth American tells their story: https://www.ellsworthamerican.com/living/arts-a-living/ellsworth-couple-carve-life/
