Crafternoon - Felted Creature Craft
Saturday, April 7
2:30pm – 4:30pm
Instructor: Jessica Harris
Description: Learn the basics of wet felting and needle felting in this hands on workshop. All woolen fibers and supplies are included. Make a little tiny farm animal, insect, funky patterned pin, or learn to "paint with needles" using a barbed felting needle and colorful wool roving from sheep and alpaca hairs. Students will learn how to create small creatures, such as moths with feathery antennae, wiry pipe cleaner legs, tissue paper wings and bright, fuzzy bodies, ladybugs, spiders, and other amazing itty-bitties inspired from our natural world. Students will be given handouts and learn general insect anatomy. Samples and books will be available for reference. All materials are included. Your projects can be embellished with beads and buttons for eyes and given structure and movement with wiry pipe-cleaner legs. Children 8+ and adults too!
*Please note: This workshop includes the use of a sharp needle into felt and foam. Students have full use of the needle and work it manually themselves. Parents are welcome to drop their children off or stay to assist if they are apprehensive about the needles, but so far there hasn't been any casualties :) Patience and focus are key.
