Bruno Heinen - Mr. Vertigo

Heinen had a classical upbringing before venturing into improvised music. He has also been recognised as a composer, with nominations for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Composers Award.

For this solo recital, Bruno will be performing original works inspired by a variety of sources.

These include the painter Yves Klein, writer Paul Auster, and classical composers such as Debussy, Stockhausen and Kurtag. In the case of the Stockhausen, he will be playing alongside an original 1970's Stockhausen music box, given to his parents by Stockhausen himself.

Heinen will also be playing his arrangements of the seminal jazz ballad 'The Peacocks' by Jimmy Rowles and the popular folk song 'Fire and Rain' by James Taylor.

“Bruno Heinen plays with notable clarity and poise.” The Observer

“Heinen is a cool-headed and resourceful improviser with a beguiling touch.” London Jazz

“Erudition, eclectic studies and a jazz sensibility make Heinen the kind of newcomer who repositions the goalposts.” The Guardian

Admission: £10 or £5 – you choose (anyone who feels they need a cheaper ticket, just ask for one).
