This year's theme for our Boneyard Arts Festival is Fighting For Visibility.
Fighting for Visibility is a group art exhibition that shows how Asian Americans are breaking stereotypes of being the typical timid straight A student. There has always been a lack of Asian American presence in the media, but in the past decade, there have been major changes and figures leading this movement of being heard by Hollywood. Asian Americans in the media are making a statement. No more whitewashing. No more being the “white lead’s best friend.” Asian Americans will fight to be visible. We are our own person and we express ourselves in the ways we want to be seen.
This art exhibit is in conjunction with the Boneyard Arts Festival.
The exhibit will be up from in the AACC until May 12 and the art reception will be held on April 12.
There will be food at the reception and there will be some artist who will speak about their work.
