Join resident artists Leslie García and Paloma López of Interspecifics for an artist talk as part of GDL>>PHX: Residencias Artísticas.
Through their engineering-intensive projects, artists Leslie García and Paloma López work at the intersection of science, nature and art, and create audiovisual performances that explore the possibilities of communication between species and machines.
The work of Interspecifics is deeply shaped by the Latin American context, where precarity enables new forms of creativity, and ancient technologies meet cutting-edge forms of production. Their current line of research is based in the use of sound to understand the bioelectrical activity of bacterial cultures, plants, slime molds, and humans, using DIY hardware they call Ontological Machines.
GDL>>PHX Residencias Artísticas is an artist residency and cultural exchange program between the cities of Phoenix, Arizona and Guadalajara, Jalisco organized by CALA Alliance, ASU Art Museum and PAOS GDL with generous support from the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation.
