"Bridging the Cultural Gap: Ethical Consideration in Cross-Cultural Trauma Treatment" (3 CEUs cultural competency/diversity) presented by Anthony (Antonio) Fernandez, LCSW.

Developing a dual approach to trauma treatment using Traditional Healing practices and Western psychology. Use of rituals and ceremonies that parallel western psychology and the ethical consideration of cross cultural treatment of trauma. Major topics include:

I. Ethical considerations in cross-cultural treatment

II. Cultural competency

III. What is Old is New Again: Native American healing practice and Western Psychology

Anthony (Antonio) Fernandez, LCSW is Native American with a life long background of working with Native American communities in Canada and United States. Antonio has developed Tribal programs that incorporates Traditional Healing Practices and Western Psychology. Antonio is currently employed by Tucson Unified School District.
