Bird-Friendly Maple Sugaring: Kick off our sweetest season with a fun-filled, active day that is all about making maple syrup! We'll tap trees in the Audubon Center's 500-tap sugarbush, collect the sap, and see first-hand how an evaporator works. Audubon's sugarbush offers great places for birds to forage, hide, and raise young. We'll discover why it's important to practice Bird-friendly Maple Sugaring. Don't forget to bring your sweet tooth, since we'll wrap up this busy day with a syrup taste test!

We integrate the outdoor classroom with rigorous academic concepts, conservation-based themes, and connection with nature. Audubon Vermont's series of monthly homeschool programs focuses on key science concepts: math, biology, environmental sciences, outdoor skills, and communication/team skills. Each program is designed to give you a platform from which to build other units/lessons in your homeschooling. Audubon's programs will enrich, reinforce, and diversify what you’re working on at home.

We offer monthly homeschool sessions for both 6-8 year-olds and 9-12 year-olds. Visit Audubon Vermont's Homeschool Programs webpage for a listing of dates/topics for the school year: vt.audubon.org/homeschool

Schedule: 4 hours of programming, including a 30 minute lunch break. All programs run from 9 am to 1 pm. Note: Parents may drop off students or are welcome to join the program.
