Are you looking to make your workforce one of the future? Have you heard of the inclusive hiring movement? Does your company want to be known as an inclusive company that recognizes employees for their abilities rather than their disabilities like that of SAP and Microsoft? Many companies today would like to hire people with a disability but have legitimate concerns. A group of professionals from the disability community have put together a series of events to bridge the gap between the untapped potential of the disability community and cutting-edge companies who want to prioritize inclusive work environments. The end goal of this series would be to secure employment for the untapped talent of individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to be a partner in the employment process so that companies can feel supported throughout the entire process of hiring adults with disabilities. but also retaining that individual as an employee. The first event is going to be an initial dialogue to address the concerns that a company may face or have when they plan to hire an individual with a disability. A proposed agenda for the day is below...
1) Opening Speaker: Employer new to inclusive hiring will share his perspective about his hesitations and now successes following an initial employment opportunity.
2) Small group discussions facilitated by a disability professional about concerns and how we can be a best partner in employment for all.
3) Question and Answer panel of employers who have found success in hiring someone with a disability
*Light breakfast will be served.
The following events (Dates TBD) will include a training to reduce the amount of fear and any additional amount of work required to make the transition as easy as possible. Topics can include a discussion on accommodations, pitfalls, working with job coaches, how to maximize the ability of an individual with a disability, and more depending on the feedback we receive from the this event. To close the series there will be a hiring event for employers and adults with disabilities.
This series would like to target attendees who run their own company, work in human resources, or are in management at an organization that would be open to hiring adults with disabilities, but are not quite sure how to overcome their initial concerns. Please fill out the google form link attached to RSVP and give us an initial idea of any concerns that you immediately have about inclusive hiring.
If you are able to attend please follow this link to a google form for RSVP's and to help us gather more information on this topic.
Please invite and share this event with any other professionals that you think may want to be part of this series. Thank you!
