Aerospace is cool, risky, and expensive. Fortunately, our event is only one of these things. Discover how one group of students is designing drones, rockets, satellites, and outreach initiatives that compete internationally and solve real-world problems, but with less than 1% the usual cost.
The Aerospace Showcase (TAS) is the annual unveiling event for the University of Toronto Aerospace Team (UTAT), when UTAT reveals its latest fleet of student-designed aircraft, rockets, and spacecraft. This year, TAS will feature:
HERON Mk. II: a student-funded and built nanosatellite with a novel microbiology experiment platform
Defiance: the record-breaking student-developed hybrid rocket for high-altitude research
Blackhawk: multirotor drone for a simulated BVLOS law enforcement crime scene reconnaissance operation
Pathfinder: quad-rotor UAV for up-close site surveys, exploration and payload delivery
University of Toronto Explorer (UTX) II: fixed wing UAV for searching, surveying, and mapping with the latest machine vision cameras and onboard processing capabilities
Bringing together over 300 students, professionals, and the public each year, TAS is Toronto’s premier opportunity to learn about aerospace innovation. Furthermore, our Showcase demonstrates the story of how a passionate community of students are paving the way despite daunting goals, short timelines, and tight budgets.
Free admission and lunch will be provided.
