For the first time in a long time, a 4-week Carolina Shag series is coming to Las Vegas. Starting Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00pm we'll spend 4-weeks exploring one of the smoothest, most enjoyable partner dances you'll ever learn. This easy going 6-count Swing dance is perfect for you to hold a partner in one hand and a delicious libation (of your choice) in the other.
This dance is perfect for social dancers of all stripes. It doesn't matter if you started out doing West Coast Swing, Lindy hop, the suite of Ballroom dances, or something else entirely, Carolina Shag will offer something for you.
Some of the music you'll be dancing too:
1950s Beach Music
1960s R&B/Doo Wop & Soul

What is Carolina Shag?
The term "Carolina Shag" is thought to have originated along the strands between Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Wilmington, North Carolina, during the late 1940s. According to Bo Bryan, a Carolina Shag historian and resident of Beaufort County, the term was coined at Carolina Beach, North Carolina. The Carolina Shag is a descendant of Carolina Jitterbug, and its predecessor, Little Apple which was the white version of the Big Apple (whose origins can be traced to Columbia, South Carolina in 1937). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_shag
