CineCult303 is back, with a cracking double feature of David A. Prior films!
Not just any David A. Prior films, mind you, but the TWO BEST FILMS HE MADE IN 1987 (for the record, yes, he released more than two films in 1987).
Why 1987, you ask? Well, it's the year of CineCult303 host Liam's birth. Why do you give a shit, you ask? Well, Imaginary Rude Person, because April 10th is his birthday, and you should feel obligated to come along to this double feature to hang out with him.
Plus the films are super fun!
First up is DEADLY PREY (1987). This film is sort of a rip-off of First Blood and The Most Dangerous Game, where a Vietnam veteran is kidnapped and hunted by mercenaries. But don't let that plot get in the way of 80 super-duper homoerotic minutes of our star running around in cut-off jeans while covered in baby oil. It's hypnotic, and wonderful.
It also features a supportive performance by B-movie character actor extraordinaire Cameron Mitchell, who delivers what may be the greatest monologue in the history of film.
Then, the REAL weirdness starts when we trade homoeroticism for grunge and lechery, in KILLER WORKOUT (1987) (aka AEROBICIDE). A lurid slasher film set in a gym, featuring more lycra than an over-50s bike race in Sandringham.
The film plays kind of like an American take on a Giallo film, with nonsensical plotting, bonkers twists and characters, but it never stops being amazing, weird fun.
Come along, get Liam drunk, and watch some compulsively enjoyable weirdness.
There will be prizes, inebriated introductions to the films by your host, and comfortable, sticky couches.
As always, a gold coin donation is required to help us keep the strangeness flowing.
