Vincent Simmons interest in Photography started at very young age. Born and raised in a city with so much physical and spiritual diversity allowed Vincent to become better with his craft and appreciate New Orleans more. Whether he shoots Documentary, wildlife, portraiture, special events, Vincent's photography, "allows me to share and express my passion with the pictures I make. I was raised never to take anything for granted. So when something visually peeks my interest, I know the moment is mine to capture because it can vanish at any given time." Vincent can usually be found documenting the various festivals and events in New Orleans.

Jeff Davitt- Born in Indiana and raised on the north side of Chicago, Jeff was creative from an early age. Jeff loved to paint, draw, work with ceramics, etc. Jeff also developed a love for Aviation and got hooked on photography, though he would own a camera until later. Jeff was given a 35mm SLR camera for Christmas, when he was in the Army that was Jeff’s introduction to the craft. Jeff purchased a Nikon D70 camera that made the move to New Orleans. That is the camera with which this series of photos was shot. While photography was always in Jeff’s heart and soul, it was the landscape and the people of the city that gave Jeff the push to get serious about his craft. It was while working for the Fair Grounds that Jeff went to his first “Jazzfest”. He hasn’t missed one since. These photos were taken between the years of 2006 and 2011.

JD Hill has been bending his unique style of traditional and electric blues harmonica and vocals into R&B, rock, New Orleans funk, and late-night boogie blues for many decades now. JD has had the honor and privilege to play with many local and global music legends such as Deacon John, Dr. John, James Booker, the Nevilles, Jessie Hill, Earl King, Allen Toussaint, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn and too many more to name.

Please join us to celebrate the art of photography, New Orleans style with PHOTOS IN SOUND: Vincent Simmons & Jeff Davitt, with musical guests, JD Hill & The Jammers.

Photos in Sound will be on display April 24th through May 31st.
