The Pelvic Power House: A 6-week Awareness Through Movement Series
Bringing the pelvis, the body’s power house into its full potential, requires the work of antagonists in alignment, the re-organization of peripheries and both a softness and a strength to contact that elusive resource of our anatomical strength. This series of lessons is designed to empower and aid in reconfiguring the body’s infinite potential for movement.
Duration: A 6-week series taught twice a week, times to be agreed upon. The lesson duration is between 45-60 minutes.
The Method: The Feldenkrais Method comes in two modalities. Group classes called Awareness Through Movements, and Individual sessions named Functional Integration. The series offered here belongs to the first group.
Awareness Through Movement (ATM) classes are designed to bring our attention to the organization of our body, its habits and patterns, whilst providing new forms of organization that bring ease, grace, strength and endurance with them. ATMs are helpful for easing bodily fatigue, handling chronic ailments, increasing stability, balance and strength, and for providing a sense of over-all wellbeing and comfort.
The Trainer: Marwa Al-Sawi
Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner
A writer at heart, actress in spirit, humanist and environmentalist by choice, Marwa has been studying the Feldenkrais Method since December 2007 and received her final degree in the summer of 2014. With a background in performing arts and a curiosity that has taken her into various fields, Marwa is currently a mother and practitioner, intrigued, grateful and always curious.
Requirements: Flexible brains and Imaginations. Loose, comfortable clothing.
