Join us for a special fundraising Book Fair at the Barnes & Noble located in Poughkeepsie! The Poughkeepsie location will be hosting an in-store event with refreshments and performances. A percentage of net sales from the Book Fair will benefit Mirage Theatre Company, a non-profit arts organization.
Excerpts from our play, Distant Survivors, will be performed at the event along with a musical performance and a talent showcase of Vassar students! Funds raised will go towards future performances of Distant Survivors, a play based on the poetry of William Heyen about one man's search for meaning in contemplation of the Holocaust. Funds will also go towards the development of Broken Dolls, a play about the human trafficking of women.
*Mirage Theatre Company is a women-run non-profit organization whose mission is rooted in the belief that theatre and performance is a medium of communication and communion with the ability to spark "creative change" for social justice issues. Our recommended books (including a variety of books by diverse writers of color and on the themes of important social aspects) will be on display, along with copies of our very own published play, Distant Survivors, available for purchase.
**If you are not able to attend the in-store event, you can still participate in the Book Fair at any Barnes & Noble location on the day of (4/14), and for an extended period of time on their website at www.BN.com (4/14- 4/19).
