Join us for an intimate, interactive dinner experience where you'll discover your dosha and be introduced to the philosophy of Ayurveda. In this inaugural event in our Ayurvedic series, local Ayurvedic Health Counselor (and overall amazing human being!) Caryn O'Hara, will lead guests through a delicious multi-course meal wherein she will show you what it means to eat for your dosha and how it can improve your overall health and wellness. The evening will be a true sensory experience, designed to enliven and enlighten the spirit; and will conclude with a guided walk through the neighborhood to support digestion and continue awareness beyond the dinner itself!
A little about Ayurveda:
Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old medical philosophy and practice that originated in India and is often referred to as the "Mother of All Healing." It is predicated on the idea that we all are made up of different types of energy which describe the dominant mind/body state. When these energies are balanced, we are healthy; when they are unbalanced, over time we develop physical, mental and/or emotional disease. The three energies identified by Ayurveda are known as doshas and include Vata (the subtle energy associated with movement), Pitta (expressed as the body's metabolic system), and Kapha (the energy that forms the body's structure). While all three are present in everyone, Ayurveda explains that we each have a dominant dosha that’s unwavering from birth, and ideally an equal (though often fluctuating) balance between the other two.
