Yoga Nidra, a practice rooted in the Tantras, is a systematic method of guided relaxation. Unlike recreational activities that we might find relaxing, yoga nidra allows us to go beyond sensory realms to let go of tensions in all aspects of our being, even those beneath our consciousness. Verbal cues and guided visualizations are given that facilitate this sometimes subtle, sometimes profound relaxation. All that is needed is a yoga mat, pillow, and blanket. Participants simply lie on their mats listening to the guidance, and are invited to set an intention for their practice. No prior experience with yoga or meditation is necessary.
