Nature's Footprints is pleased to announce that we are now delivering the new NOCN qualification Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders. Jo Liversidge (Managing Director) has a number of years experience both in education and as a Forest School practitioner and trainer, working to support children, families and settings across Kirklees. It is this ongoing experience that she will be bringing to the training, guiding learners on an inspiring, creative and practical journey, whilst supporting and nurturing them through their experiences.

The course will run both inside and out, with time given for the learners to immerse themselves in a wooded environment. The training is a mixture of games, discussions, practical and written exercises with opportunities for reflection, presented in a variety of ways, and suited to the learners themselves. The course is also delivered using accessible resources and teaching materials and the content assessed through 20 individual assessment tasks. These are completed throughout.

NOCN Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders
This Level 3 qualification is designed to qualify the learner to become a Forest School practitioner, able to set up and run a Forest School programme. It covers how to facilitate groups in a learner-centred way, and how to manage a Forest School site sustainably. It also covers the practical skills required of a Forest School practitioner. Learners may typically be school and college staff, teachers and teaching assistants, youth workers.

Units covered on the training include; Planning, Preparation and Delivery of a Forest Schools Programme, Learning and Development, The Woodland Environment and Practical Skills. There will be opportunities to develop your own practice and skills, along with being able to facilitate a range of practical skills for others. There will be opportunities to visit different Forest School sites, to look at different woodland management techniques and the environmental impact we can have on our sites. There will be opportunities to identify flora and fauna on different sites and how we might explore this with our groups, alongside developing an understanding of the importance of the relationship between Forest School and the woodland environment.

Nature's Footprints can support learners in their ongoing journey through volunteering opportunities and access to a growing local network of Forest School practitioners.
