Denise Vania-Broussard is an oil painter who was born in Algoma Wisconsin and raised in Alaska where she resided full-time for 44 years. She currently lives between Alaska in the summer and her husbands hometown in Louisiana during the winter. Some years ago Denise started painting as a hobby. Her medium of choice is oil.
Each summer, Denise sets up her studio in her remote cabin at the foothills of Mt. McKinley/Denali National Park where she paints her Urban Moose series and Anchorage cityscapes. In her paintings, she captures the charms of Anchorage and it’s quirky local moose population as they wander the streets of her hometown.
Her most current series When Cows Comes Home is a tribute to her parents hometown, Algoma, where she spent summers enjoying the company of beloved relatives, treasured friends and the allure of Lake Michigan.
Awards include; Eklutna Sunset (2015) Peers Choice and Country Comes To Town (2016), Best Animal in the Park award for the Art for Alaska's Parks competition.
Denise’s work is represented at Stephan Fine Arts Gallery in Anchorage, Alaska and on-line at denisebroussard.com. Recent exhibits include Art Walk shows for Stephan's Fine Art Gallery.
